How to Join SAYO
Prerequisites
Any UT Austin student is welcome to join SAYO anytime! We require no previous tutoring experience, just familiarity with the subject you plan to teach. We recommend you sign up at the beginning of the semester to have the best chances of being matched with a student that fits your preferred subjects and times, but you can join at any point in the semester. Tutors who do not have a car can take the bus or carpool with other tutors if they would like, but can also tutor over Zoom.
How to Start
It’s easy! To get started, just fill out this membership interest form. In this form, you will find links to our primary modes of communication and provide your contact information. An officer will reach out to you shortly with instructions for a 5-minute background check and collect your preferences to match you with a student.
Benefits
SAYO members will form lasting relationships with the students they work with. In doing so, they will also get to know Austin teachers and administrators who may be able to recommend them to academic or professional institutions, gain documentation of volunteer hours, and join a team of UT students passionate about passing down their knowledge and giving back to their community. Members will tutor for a minimum of one hour a week but may choose to do so more frequently if schedules allow.
